For love

Jaime Lee Moyer

What would you do for the sake of love?  Or better asked, what would you not do?

Poetry
Fantasy

For love,
He donned helm and armor,
Strapped on the sword he’d vowed
Never to wield again,
And for love,
Knowing it did little to protect
Him from a river dragon’s sight,
She dulled the gloss with lamp-black,
Muttered spells that drew shadows
And darkness in hope of saving him,
Her own vow shattered by twisted fate,
Willing to do any forbidden thing
For love of this man,
And when the roar of battle
Filled the night like
A storm raging overhead,
For love of their child,
She sang lullabies to drown out the thunder.
